MIKI
KATZ
Artist's Statement Occasionally I hear a person say that he/she does not "understand" abstract art and therefore does not like it It does not seem to help when told that abstract art does not necessarily have a meaning. Though abstract art may not have meaning, it does convey a feeling. Through careful planning of each painting,I attempt to create an atmosphere or mood. If the viewer allows himself the time and the freedom from former opinions, perhaps he will actually feel what I am trying to communicate. My artwork is about actions and reactions of one shape to another...of one color to another...it is about balance and rhythm. It can calm or excite, it can be serious or humorous. I have used colors, shapes and/or brush strokes and their relationships to each other to create these experiences.
